“Remembering Laki Senanayake (1937-2021)”
The renowned multidisciplinary artist Laki Senanayake was a part of the prolific group of artists which included Geoffrey & Bevis Bawa, Donald Friend, Ulrik Plesner, Barbara Sansoni and Ena de Silva.
Lakiās legacy spans over many forms and disciplines including sketches, pen & ink drawing, murals and frescos, sculpture, silk, batik & screen printing, designing/engraving for banknotes, gardening/landscaping and architecture.
He passed away at the age of 84 leaving his masterwork and legacy āDiyabubulaā to be admired, remembered and celebrated for generations to come. His philosophy, skill and inventive spirit will live on forever in his art and inspire future artists around the world.
The first remembrance in his honour was held on 30th May 2022 at Diyabubula by his daughter Mintaka along with family, friends and colleagues.
